On June 6 the encompass Programme will be running a joint Digital Care and Business Support Forum at Craigavon Civic Centre.  This is for all HSCNI staff to attend and aims to give practical information about the encompass programme and how it will affect staff directly.

Currently information about patients and users is on a number of systems across HSC, with some of them in urgent need of replacement. There is also a lot of reliance on paper records and processes.

As part  of the development of a new integrated digital record for Northern Ireland, which will bring information, currently sitting in a variety of places, into one record, the encompass Programme Team is in the process of appointing a supplier.

Considered one of the largest investments in digital technology in Northern Ireland, the new system will allow healthcare professionals to access patient information on a range of devices including handhelds such as iPads and mobile phones, wherever they are, safety and securely.

They will also be able to update records in ‘real time’, make notes electronically, prescribe medicines, order tests and communicate with patients and users.

People will be able to view their own information and communicate electronically with those who provide their care.

In order to explain the practical implications of the new system, a staff event will be held on 6 June in Craigavon Civic Centre.

Open to all staff, at all grades, the practical, interactive event will inform staff how the new system will affect them and how they can get involved.

Jointly hosted by the Digital Care Forum and the Digital Business Support Forums, the event will enable staff to learn about the system’s capability and find out more about the implementation plan and timescales.

Staff will also be asked about their level of interest in the programme, the various opportunities available to them and the application process.

Speakers will include encompass programme director, Gary Loughran, clinical director, Dr Michael Quinn, Denise Lynd, chair of the Digital Business Support Forum as well as other colleagues from the UK who have had experience of using EH&C records.

Those who wish to attend the event, from 1pm to 4pm, should register their interest via the Eventbrite link https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/encompass-from-abstract-to-reality-tickets-61509078309. Spaces are limited so early registration is essential.
