Engagement sessions with Deaf people who use British and Irish Sign Language
Regional Face to Face Sign Language Interpreting Service
The Health and Social Care Board (HSCB) and Business Services Organisation (BSO) are working to improve Face to Face Sign Language Interpreting Services.
Over recent weeks, we’ve spent time engaging with Sign Language Interpreters. We all believe that working together is the only way forward, and we are committed to delivering a regional service that is professional and accessible.
We now want to consult further with you, too. In particular, we want to know: what is important to you?
Deaf people have previously told us the following things are very important:
- a confidential service;
- a service that provides interpreters with a high standard of skills and experience;
- a service that offers continuity of interpreter for complex health issues and male/female choice for sensitive matters;
- a service that covers all appointments 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including emergencies and out of hours; and
- a service that is accessible, offering text message confirmation of appointments and accessible methods to give positive feedback or make complaints where necessary.
Have we missed anything?
We would love to hear your feedback. Please join us:
