The Trauma Audit Research Network is a national clinical audit for trauma care with data submitted from all hospitals in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. It is the largest European trauma registry of more than 500,000 injured patients.
This wealth of data enables TARN to drive improvements in trauma care by comparing processes of care using clinically defined standards, applying outcome prediction modelling and undertaking and publishing active research projects and publications.
The NI Major Trauma Network will contribute data from all hospitals to the Trauma Audit & Research Network (TARN). This will provide regional and individual hospital data against which Trusts can audit patient mortality and morbidity for trauma cases. TARN data will support quality improvement and will underpin the future work of the Network.
